I aspire to create beautiful jewelry and wall art. I absolutely love the vibrant colors of vitreous enamel fused to metal!
I use fine silver or gold foils, millefiori (flower dots), and texture to create visual interest. I often use the fold forming technique of metalsmithing; heat and pressure to transform a flat piece of metal into the shapes we see in nature: a ruffled edge or the curves of the moon, seashells, and flower petals and leaves.
I adhere powdered enamel glass to the metal; using a kiln or torch, I fire the piece to about 1450 degrees! As I add the layers of enamel to the firing, slight variations occur--each piece is unique!
