Building colors with multiple layers, Melissa creates luminous paintings of landscapes, nature and birds. She enjoys working with watercolor, mixed media, acrylic, oil and oil and cold wax. Her pieces invite the viewer to walk in and explore and think about what might be around the bend or behind the hill. “There’s a fascinating complexity in the weeds overlooking the river or the interlacing branches of trees. Through layering of both color and texture I seek to show this in my pieces.” Along with creating art, Melissa shares her skills and knowledge through classes and workshops in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media.
